A Y-front harness that leaves the shoulders free to move. The chest plate is padded and breathable, both straps adjust, and the side-release buckles work with cold fingers.
A steel D-ring on the back for the lead and a short handle for stiles, streams and the moment you need to lift them over something.
Size and fit
Every Tarnhound coat and jumper is sized by back length. Measure along the spine from the base of the neck, where the collar sits, to the base of the tail, and leave the tail out.

Breeds are a starting point only: dogs of the same breed can be a size apart. On the line between two sizes, take the larger one.
Delivery and returns
Delivery. Free UK delivery over £60, £4.50 below that. Orders go out by tracked courier within two working days, packed in plain recycled paper.
Returns. Send it back unworn, with the tags on, within 30 days and we swap the size or refund it.
Repairs. A broken buckle or a torn strap is a repair, not a replacement. How repairs work.
Care
Coats and fleece: cool machine wash, no fabric softener, hang to dry away from direct heat. Knitwear: hand wash cool and dry flat. Harnesses, leads and collars: rinse off the mud and let them dry naturally.
Never tumble dry anything with reflective trim.

- Stand your dog square on a flat floor
- Find the base of the neck, where the collar sits
- Run a soft tape along the spine to the base of the tail
- Leave the tail out, and write the number down

How do I choose a size?

Will it go over a harness?
The walking coats, the parka, the rain jacket and the cooling vest all have an opening on the back for the lead. Knitwear and fleece are made to be worn on their own or under a coat.
How do I get my dog used to wearing it?
- Let them sniff it on the floor first
- Put it on indoors for a minute, with a treat, then take it off
- Build up to a few minutes around the house
- Then the first short walk
A coat that goes on without a wrestle is a coat that gets worn.
